Two arrested for ‘pushing student to death’ in Pretoria
A Teenager was allegedly pushed from the seventh floor at Wall Flat in Arcadia. Sunnyside police have arrested two men who allegedly pushed an 18-year-old student from the seventh floor of a building in Arcadia on Saturday morning.
The two men were arrested on Sunday afternoon after police worked tirelessly throughout the night trying to locate them, Sunnyside police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said.
“The two suspects are believed to have been involved in an altercation with an 18-year-old college student shortly before the latter was allegedly pushed from the seventh floor at Wall Flat in Arcadia, east of Pretoria, during the early hours of Saturday morning.”
Mavimbela said the victim was treated at a local hospital where he died during the afternoon on the same day.
“According to an eyewitness account, the victim was involved in an argument with the suspects before he was pushed.”
The local police commander, Brigadier Ramakamakama Kekana, commended the officers who ensured that the suspects were brought to book within 72 hours.
“Informers and other members of the community must also be thanked for providing us information that let to both the identification and apprehension of the suspects,” said Kekana.
The suspects (23 and 27) are expected to be charged with murder and will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
